Jamaican Yerk (Jerk) is a traditional Jamaican spicy seasoning that is loved and widely used far beyond the borders of Jamaica. First of all, yerk is used as a seasoning for barbecues or other charcoal-grilled meats. Traditionally it is used for chicken and pork, rubbed on meat and added to marinades. Over time, from a highly specialized and little-known blend, yerk has become an extremely popular all-purpose seasoning on the island. Now it is used with all types of meat, poultry, fish, seafood, and in addition with vegetables and even with some fruits.
